The Best Screens and Projectors Since Sliced Bread

The Best Screens and Projectors Since Sliced Bread

October 18

Projectors are a big deal at PMC, as we are no stranger to the ultimate, bigger-is-better home theater or concert experience. That’s why we are so excited to see our brands offering such a wide variety of screen innovations with outstanding picture quality that you can put practically anywhere.

Ultra Short Throw Hall of Fame

(UST) projectors are making a particularly big splash in this arena, as they can offer that bigger, better experience to nearly any kind of customer and space. The thought of equipping a home, school or other professional space doesn’t have to feel so far out of reach—as these projectors can deliver a massive image from a very short distance without requiring the typical room depth that front projection systems have traditionally needed. Where one might traditionally need at least 8 to 10 feet between a screen and projector, UST projectors can sit right on a tabletop or shelf near the wall—creating the same size image with less than a foot of distance between it and the screen.

LG

The new LG CineBeam AI ThinQ and LG HU85LA ultra short throw projectors can be placed 7.2 inches from the wall to project a 120-inch 4K UHD image. They employ a three-channel laser system, meaning they use a laser as a light source without requiring a color wheel—with even more accurate color reproduction. LG not only delivers surprisingly bright, inky, detailed UHD images with their UST projectors, but a super user-friendly experience to boot.

LG’s UST projectors also offer a 20,000 hour lifespan so they can be used with the frequency of a TV, as well as voice support and webOS services which offer access to an assortment of channels in addition to Netflix, Amazon and Google. They also boast 5W stereo speakers, so you needn’t worry about running any AV connections to use it as a huge TV.

Hisense

Hisense proudly features their company’s triple laser TriChroma light engine in their new PX1 4K Ultra-Short Throw projector, which is said to achieve more than 107% of the standard in terms of color reproduction. Designed to produce screen images 100 to 120 inches wide, the PX1 also incorporates 4K with HDR, and state-of-the- art HDMI technologies that include eARC and Auto Low Latency Mode.

It also includes Filmmaker and Game Modes, which automatically adjust the projector’s settings to maximize the experience for home theater-gurus and gamers alike. The Filmmaker Mode disables several image processing features to allow users to see the same pictures as Hollywood directors, while the Game Mode detects when a gaming source is the active source component to adjust settings accordingly.

Sony

The VPL-XW7000ES is Sony’s powerful new Native 4K HDR laser model, with Live Color Enhancer and a new 70mm diameter Advanced Crisp Focused (ACF) lens. This allows for extreme clarity for movies, sports, and gaming in any viewing environment. These new projectors also feature input lag reduction mode, which dramatically improves the performance of the display reaction speed to ensure gamers and sports fans can enjoy the best possible live viewing experiences.

Both the VPL-XW7000ES and the VPL-XW6000ES are designed to be smaller in size and lighter in weight than its predecessors from Sony, making them the most compact Native 4K HDR home cinema laser projectors in the world.

Portable Projector Screens

If customers have been toying with the idea of a bedroom TV, home theater or outdoor projector and have been hesitant to pull the trigger due to space, Samsung has the winner. About the size of a coffee mug, the Samsung Freestyle can create a 100-inch screen just about anywhere. The exterior of the projector is covered with a soft rubber-like material that offers protection against minor bumps and scratches, so one can easily move it between rooms or even take it on the go. And don’t let the size fool you—the color and clarity of the picture this device offers is incredible, not to mention the sound quality if needed for use as a stand-alone speaker. The Freestyle supports Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 5, Airplay 2 and even comes with all major streaming apps like Amazon Prime, Netflix, Apple TV and more.

Big Things Come in Small…Cassettes

Screen Innovations’ Solo Pro series is the smallest motorized screen family on the planet, and the Solo Pro 2 just upped the ante. Screen Innovations has managed to fit a 160-inch motorized screen in a cassette just under 4.75-inches. Plus, its all-new internals make it capable of even bigger things than the original Solo Pro. This screen was designed to provide a high degree of flexibility thanks to its three power options including patent-pending magnetic rechargeable, 24v low-voltage and AC power. Not to mention its twelve reflective materials including ambient light rejecting, acoustically transparent, and ultra-short-throw in 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios. The sleek, compact size makes both setup and usage a breeze, and the perfect choice for any minimally designed contemporary space.
